OPINION.
BEWARE AI. A man drives along a road and suddenly stops at the deserted roadside, or alternatively after many other cars have passed by. For some reason a camera is there as he tends to some animal or bird and puts it in his car or untangles it. What a “hero”! If you have had reels featuring ridiculous fake “animals in distress” pop up on social media you have probably seen this fucking bullshit a million times by now. Whoever generates these are fuckwits. Plain and simple, and they do real animals no favours at all as they milk dry REAL life situations that are not the type of trash that they are generating for clickbait likes.
In my opinion, as a real rescuer these are not harmless entertainment, they are part of a bigger problem in that the public are totally oblivious to real life situations, the stress it causes and the sacrifices made that they themselves would not do, which is why they call on you to do something, but are usually not prepared to do anything themselves.
Added to this, the disgraceful RSPCA who now have abandoned wildlife in the UK and fail to put forward calls on any wildlife rescues due to the arseholes who run that corporate vehicle behemoth running the show, means that those who volunteer are now expected to pick up their work as well, unpaid.
The Australian paedophile who fronted their flagship show has been quietly forgotten, an uncomfortable connection from the past and not part of the attempted rebrand, which still relies heavily on euthanasia first.
It was always the case that their camera crew heavily edited TV show mentality gave the public a false sense of how animal rescue works, its outcomes and how difficult and slow it can be, with sometimes many visits and unsuccessful attempts, but now this fake video shite just adds to that unrealistic expectation.
The public I am afraid are stupid. It defies belief that they think it is real, but evidently from some of the comments they do!
I have to say that I have grown disillusioned with the whole “rescue” business in general. This website started as a campaign regards stopping culls of geese. I had been rescuing birds for many years before that, but people have unrealistic expectations of what you can do and where you can go. This is why I am no longer rescuing birds outside the area of Sandwell. I put up a post asking for help, not one person replied.
Then there are those who appear to liberally give out your number or tag you in whenever a bird pops up as injured ANYWHERE, and ANY TIME, usually in an evening in fading light when you can do fuck all! Sorry, I cannot help you.
Real events do not always have happy endings in the cartoon world of the fake creators. My biggest problem remains Sandwell council and its officers, uncaring, making situations more difficult than they should be, and not helping wildlife at all- particularly with their abysmal management of fishing. Here’s a little snapshot of a few incidents from this year that this AI mockery will never understand.
