Any volunteers?

Heroes usually do wear capes

Are you the type of person who treads a fine line between genius and insanity helping those that are not grateful, will never thank you and probably shit all over you at the least wanted moment?

For many years, I have been a campaigner for environmental issues and wildfowl and advocate when Sandwell council decided to enact a heinous event that made national headlines and brought them into disrepute.

As social media grew, so have many contacts about birds in trouble, somewhere, many outside an area I cannot get to. With the RSPCA now not doing very much at all, and with no West Midlands county based wildlife sanctuary, it is becoming increasingly difficult to help birds that are in trouble, but which could be saved through a network of contacts, transporters or just spotters who look out for their local birds.

That is why I am now asking for volunteers to help. Do you live in Sandwell, Dudley, North Birmingham, Wolverhampton or Walsall and are you able to help with transporting birds and occasionally myself to rescue locations? You may never hear from me at all, or it could be at any time. I can assist with fuel money.

Experience of handling birds can be taught, but all birds would be secure. Many rescues are transfer issues- swans landing in the wrong place, kicked into brambles by parents etc especially between December- March. More complex issues may involve boat rescue, but I would not expect you to jump in, but any kayakers or those with this type of skill set would be useful if that is how you are able to volunteer.

This is an experiment, but if this sounds up your street then please drop us a line via our facebook page and say how you could help and what areas, days you may be available. Cheers.
