LOL<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The following details as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatdotheyknow.com\/request\/589199\/response\/1399687\/attach\/9\/Copy%20of%20NIRS.pdf?cookie_passthrough=1\" target=\"_blank\">revealed in this supplied information <\/a>demonstrates that pollution &#8220;misconnections&#8221; as Severn Trent likes to call them, has been occurring for many years, in particular from Severn Trent Water&#8217;s apparatus. <strong>The reports go back as far as 2006. THEY ALSO DEMONSTRATE THAT AT LEAST ON SOME OF THEE OCCASSIONS, THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN NOTED TO BE DEAD BIRDS WHEN THESE POLLUTION INCIDENTS HAVE BEEN WITNESSED.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>00399837 17\/5\/2006<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp5.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2482\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp5-300x145.png\" alt=\"shp5\" width=\"500\" height=\"242\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp5-300x145.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp5.png 723w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cCaller reporting oil on the pond\u2026 there have been dead geese there and also dead fish recently.\u201d<\/span> <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>It appears that there was some confusion in the report originally, but little doubt after establishment, that Smethwick Hall Park was the polluted source of concern.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2483\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp6.png\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2483\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-2483\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp6-300x164.png\" alt=\"shp6\" width=\"500\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp6-300x164.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp6.png 725w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2483\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000; font-size: 18pt;\">&#8220;Sounds like wrong connections, and the dead birds are a cause for concern.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p><em><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cSmethwick hall park is quite heavily polluted by wrong connections and is also covered with litter to the extent that litter is the favoured nesting material for coots, no dead birds seen at time of visit, but seven were seen during a second visit a week later\u201d<\/span> <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>This report, from the EA officer themselves perhaps sets the scene, and is a sad indictment of not only Severn Trent&#8217;s failure, but also of Sandwell council&#8217;s to properly manage this litter strewn site.<\/p>\n<p>This connects to following incident <strong>00401674 24\/5\/2006<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp7.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2484\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp7-300x147.png\" alt=\"shp7\" width=\"500\" height=\"245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp7-300x147.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp7.png 719w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> &#8220;Report of four dead ducks &amp; a misconnection to the pool Off Londonderry lane.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Severn Trent and Defra were informed, and presumably the birds were sent for post mortem. It is not clear what happened with this, but presumably no detailed post mortem was undertaken or investigation made into the clear link to the pollution concern.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8220;Pool is grey\/blue with misconnections smell. Six dead ducks.&#8221;<\/span><\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp8.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2485\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp8-300x139.png\" alt=\"shp8\" width=\"500\" height=\"232\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp8-300x139.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp8.png 737w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is no evidence recorded as to how these &#8220;misconnections&#8221; were resolved, but I remember from conversations with former drainage engineer at SMBC, John Ashcroft, that Severn Trent had supposedly found &#8220;many&#8221;. The fact that these 2006 events again occurred into the summer months suggests that there may have been a die off of birds related to botulism evolving from a sewage &#8220;misconnection&#8221; again.<\/p>\n<p>The following report I know to be one of mine concerning diesel going into the pool in 2013.\u00a0<strong>01085293 \u00a0 \u00a0 10\/02\/2013. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I reported this when I saw it, yet it appears that the EA attended in the fading light.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp9.png\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2486\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp9-300x178.png\" alt=\"shp9\" width=\"500\" height=\"296\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp9-300x178.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp9.png 725w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp10.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2488\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp10-300x109.png\" alt=\"shp10\" width=\"500\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp10-300x109.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp10.png 731w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A 2016 incident, perhaps the red herring of the bunch, was reported by SMBC after motorbikes had been dumped into the pool which leaked diesel. <strong>01413658 \u00a0 24\/02\/2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp11.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2489\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp11-300x215.png\" alt=\"shp11\" width=\"500\" height=\"359\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp11-300x215.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp11.png 725w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp12.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2490\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp12-300x70.png\" alt=\"shp12\" width=\"500\" height=\"117\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp12-300x70.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp12.png 741w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And then to this year, and another call that I know I made.<\/p>\n<p><strong>01672260 06\/01\/2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I tried to give as much detailed information as possible, and at this time there was concern about the situation at Victoria Park Smethwick (and still is) with bird deaths. There appears to be some confusion recorded on here, as the collapsed sewer relates to Victoria Park and not Smethwick Hall. I noted a dead goose and duck were present on this occasion, which had not been there on my visit a week earlier.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp13.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2491\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp13-300x191.png\" alt=\"shp13\" width=\"500\" height=\"319\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp13-300x191.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp13.png 720w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0What I didn&#8217;t get from this was much in the way of feedback, which looking at what is recorded below appears to demonstrate that sewage was already going into this pool and from the same source as later found in May.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unfortuanely, as I have reported before, the EA now call the polluter to investigate the scene, rather than doing it themselves, and so Severn Trent attended this incident.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c08\/01\/2019<\/strong> <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">S. Roe <span style=\"color: #000000;\">(EA)<\/span>\u00a0 rang STWL for an update. Informed that a crew attended and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a strong sewage odour was observed<\/span>. Ammonia readings at the weir were 3.7 and 4.5 at end of lake.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>It is important here that Severn Trent themselves observed &#8220;a sewage odour&#8221;. As these readings were taken by Severn Trent themselves, they are not independent, and this needs to be questioned when looking at the source of the ammonia readings- usually indicative of sewage related releases.<\/p>\n<p>Severn Trent again failed to locate this issue.<\/p>\n<p>The ammonia readings relate to parts per million, with anything above 1 giving the EA cause for concern. They concluded that there were \u00a0 <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">\u201cmultiple misconnections\u201d, <span style=\"color: #000000;\">but what exactly is the bloody point of stating this time and time again, yet failing to ever actually identify their source?\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp14.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2492\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp14-300x99.png\" alt=\"shp14\" width=\"500\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp14-300x99.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp14.png 740w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is further revealed that Severn Trent had &#8220;placed a bung&#8221; at the outlet , I\u00a0 think they mean inlet, to stop further pollution entering the lake. They also claimed to not be able to reach a suspected polluted manhole due to traffic. Again we get the same &#8220;multiple misconnections&#8221; which attempts to absolve them of any blame.<\/p>\n<p>It appears at a later date that the EA were contacted by Severn Trent ti claim that they had traced one misconnection to a property. What happened to the &#8220;multiple&#8221; ?<\/p>\n<p>It is also claimed that\u00a0 CCTV camera was put down, possibly Margaret Gardens, (though this is redacted) where foul is entering the surface water sewer, ie <strong>shit is entering the lake.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And then perhaps the final damning statement made by Severn Trent, which as we know was to prove utter bullshit.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">&#8220;As far as we can tell from the extensive searches we have been conducting over the last few weeks, <strong>there are not any blockages contributing to this pollution<\/strong> and it seems to be multiple miscons that intermittently\u00a0 pollute. &#8220;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp18.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2495\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp18-300x177.png\" alt=\"shp18\" width=\"500\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp18-300x177.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp18.png 732w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is of course not the case, as was later proven by the incident in April, which I again reported.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp4.png\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>01696951 24\/4\/2019<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp2.png\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2446\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp2-300x221.png\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" alt=\"shp2\" width=\"400\" height=\"294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp2-300x221.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp2.png 731w\" \/><\/a>Severn Trent reported finding \u201cmisconnections\u201d at the inlet yet again \ud83d\ude44 and <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\">\u201cfaeces visible\u201d.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">I ask the question that given that they have now identified misconnections along a line in Margaret Gardens as to why <em>&#8220;despite their extensive searches&#8221;<\/em> just 3 months earlier they had failed to detect this?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is however revealed that their own blockage of their own pipe was not found- <strong>again.<\/strong> What interest you could argue would it be in their interest to, given that they face a fine for such failures?<\/p>\n<p>The EA staff then subsequently attended, finding their own observations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c30\/04\/2019 <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>P.Mullard and B.Baily attended the Smethwick Hall Pool finding the pool containing grey water and solid sewage. P.M and B.B collected water samples and sent them to the lab for analysis. Tom reported Severn Trent had attended on the 28\/04\/19 and not found a blockage. \u201c<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2447\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp3.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2447\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp3-300x208.png\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" alt=\"shp3\" width=\"400\" height=\"278\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp3-300x208.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp3.png 735w\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The lack of finding a blockage is bollocks<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The subsequent NIRS form was also obtained from this FOI which relates to investigations the EA made on the brook course running into the pool, revealed by local campaigner Mike Allen amongst others to be highly polluted with both sewage and other chemicals.<\/p>\n<p><strong> 01705882 \u00a0 01\/05\/2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Multiple misconnections are again noted by the EA , though there appears over the course of this report to have been little progress made in finding them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp16.png\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2494\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp16-300x175.png\" alt=\"shp16\" width=\"500\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp16-300x175.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp16.png 730w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp17.png\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2496\" src=\"http:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp17-300x113.png\" alt=\"shp17\" width=\"500\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp17-300x113.png 300w, https:\/\/saveoursandwellcanadageese.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/shp17.png 760w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have to say from reading this it only further gives me the feeling that water companies, who were recently <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/815066\/Summary_graphic_water_company_performance_report_2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">severely criticised by The EA in an annual report<\/a>\u00a0 for their <em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">&#8220;Generally woeful environmental performance&#8221;<\/span><\/em>,\u00a0 are failing to prevent these issues from arising, a product of a system where they are basically allowed to mark their own work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Severn Trent Water can try to apportion blame onto those not fitting washing machines or other appliances correctly, but the question must now be asked after seeing for how long this has been going on and their failure to stop it as to whether it is time that Sandwell council , if they can, can disconnect Severn Trent&#8217;s apparatus from entering their beleaguered and polluted swamp off Stoney lane for good.
